Tai Chi for Arthritis (TCA)-12 lessons with Dr Lam - recommended by CDC (Scroll down to see the free first lesson)

In 1996, Dr Lam with a team of medical and tai chi experts created this safe and easy to learn program. Medical studies confirm Tai Chi for Arthritis relieves pain, reduces falls and improves quality of life, that is why the Arthritis organisations around the world advocate this program and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (www.CDC.gov) recommends it for fall prevention.

What is special about this DVD is that you will feel as though you are participating in Dr Lam’s class. After a brief introduction of what Tai Chi for Arthritis is and how this DVD can benefit you, Dr Lam will teach you with step-by-step instructions, lead you to practice and explain the reason behind every move. At the conclusion of the DVD Dr Lam will demonstrate the set from both front and back views. The unique music was composed with the rhythm and energy especially for this program!

It presents the entire program including warm up and cool down in a user friendly format. Dr Lam incorporates the tai chi principles to enhance your understanding and enjoyment.

    Outstanding Experience

Dr. Lam's Tai Chi for Arthritis is an excellent course for learning fundamentals of Tai Chi and how the movements can lead to improved mobility, balance, and health. The approach is divided into short segments with excellent demonstrations including the right amount of repetition to provide highly effective training. Dr. Lam explains the benefits that can be achieved from the various steps which then become apparent with regular practice. I have thoroughly enjoyed this DVD and have experienced improved balance and mobility from my initial use of the course.

    Superb learning aid

You can't learn Tai Chi without a LOT of practice. But if you just go to a class once or twice a week, it is very difficult to recall the exact movements and order of movements if you want to practice at home between classes. This DVD is a tremendous help. First , all courses of "Tai Chi for Arthritis" teach the same movements in the same order--there is no problem of what is on the DVD not matching what you are doing in class. Second, Dr. Lam is a good teacher. For example, movements are broken down into segments that are individually mastered before putting the pieces together; he shows the movement from several perspectives (front, back, side); he doesn't just say "practice this" and move on to the next item, leaving you to cope with the "practice" on your own. Rather, he leads each of the practice movements. He regularly reviews and practices earlier movements to increase student retention. Third, Dr. Lam is wonderful to watch--smooth and rhythmic and graceful-- and delightful to learn from--calm and encouraging. I found Tai Chi interesting when I first started classes, but after getting the DVD, I really enjoyed it and began to benefit from it in terms of improving my balance which had been deteriorating from Parkinson's.

I need this at home to help me do my homework correctly. It is very helpful since there are a lot of repetitions thus ensuring one gets it right.

The DVD is a very useful tool for teachers of the program and is also useful for students to help them review after they have been attending a TCA program or set of classes
