Tai Chi for Arthritis (TCA)-12 lessons with Dr Lam - recommended by CDC (Scroll down to see the free first lesson)

In 1996, Dr Lam with a team of medical and tai chi experts created this safe and easy to learn program. Medical studies confirm Tai Chi for Arthritis relieves pain, reduces falls and improves quality of life, that is why the Arthritis organisations around the world advocate this program and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (www.CDC.gov) recommends it for fall prevention.

What is special about this DVD is that you will feel as though you are participating in Dr Lam’s class. After a brief introduction of what Tai Chi for Arthritis is and how this DVD can benefit you, Dr Lam will teach you with step-by-step instructions, lead you to practice and explain the reason behind every move. At the conclusion of the DVD Dr Lam will demonstrate the set from both front and back views. The unique music was composed with the rhythm and energy especially for this program!

It presents the entire program including warm up and cool down in a user friendly format. Dr Lam incorporates the tai chi principles to enhance your understanding and enjoyment.

    Excellent Learning Experience

Posted by Yamile on 13th Jul 2019

This program is very easy to follow. The way Dr Lam explains and demonstrates the moves makes it doable for a "newbie ". I also love the educational part of it. I hope to teach this program one day, and I want to do it with confidence. The education you get through this program is indeed very valuable.

    Excellent instructions

I just signed up for Tai Chi for Arthritis at our local library. This DVD helped me understand the movements and kept me motivated to practice what I had just learned at the library. Dr. Paul Lam gives great instructions and breaks down the hand movements and steps individually. His soothing voice has you flowing thru all twelve lessons.

Using the cd program was very helpful for familiarizing myself with the forms before the actual training.

Tai Chi for Arthritis as a Community Wellness Program

Posted by Lynn Price on 23rd Apr 2019

The Montana Gerontology Conference folks experienced doing Tai Chi and enjoyed it! We used the Arthritis DVD by Dr. Lam in collaboration with the Arthritis Foundation, and explained how it has helped us in our community, Boulder, MT. Everyone recieved the most recent redearch abstracts on Tai Chi and fall prevention, including the Journal of American Medicine, Canadian Family Physicians. and the Gerontology Journal of Medicine. All these studies in respected medical journals show a modified form of Tai Chi to be a safe and effective program for fall prevention. As a physical therapist, I have found it clinically useful also. One precaution: is if a person is experiencing dizziness or vertigo, they should be evaluated and treated if indicated, by someone knowledgeable with this condition caused by the otoliths out of position. In this large breakout session, about 40 seniors and Gerentology related professionals participated in "Be Safe", Warm ups, Lesson 6, and Cool downs. It was very well received, and people left with smiling faces. I would add that in my practice of Yang Long Form, Choy Family lineage, I have experienced new learning with these lessons from Dr. Lam. Thank you! Lynn Price, PT

Used in Community Wellness class with great success

Posted by Lynn M. Price, PT on 15th Feb 2019

We use this DVD 2 times a week in our small town. Great results are reported by people who had to start out sitting with problems including balance (e.g.in a 90 year old woman with diabetes, a woman with diabetes, a history of leg fracture and resulting 2 inch leg length discrepency, and a woman pre and post total knee replacement). All reported functional improvements. Even a better bowling score, and all progressed to doing the form standing. We are presenting to the Montana Gerontolgy Conference using the DVD with our class in April, inviting people to watch "Be Safe", join in the warm-ups and then demonstrating lesson 6 with the DVD, and cool downs. We are excited to show that this can be used easily by all as a community wellness program, as well as by professionals in their health setting. I am sharing the JAMA Intern Med research 2018 and the Canadian Family Physician Journal articles with good evidence supporting Tai Chi for balance and health. Dr. Lam is a great teacher. I appreciate the collaboration with the Arthritis foundation. The 12 lessons build on Tai Chi principles which for me as a PT and Choy lineage Tai Chi student, are just beautiful for all levels and abilities. Thank you!

    TCA 12 Forms

Posted by Valerie Levy, Certified Instructor on 24th Dec 2018

This DVD is one of the best ever. I recommend it highly for my beginner students so they are able to practice at home. It is so important to practice at home in order to really become proficient in the moves. Then when they come to class, everything is reinforced and if they have questions, I am there to help. I use the DVD all the time to refresh my own form...and besides I love doing the form with Dr Lam.

    Excellent supplement to classes

Posted by Masako on 7th Nov 2018

Participants of my Tai Chi for Arthritis 8 week classes find the DVD easy to follow as a supplement to their classwork. Many “winter” in Florida and Georgia and were excited to be able to practice until they return in the Spring. A few were delighted to be able to have the music as well to practice with. More than a few students share their stories of healings received with the only change in their life being the 16 session Tai Chi fo Arthritis. It’s so rewarding and heartfelt.
