Tai Chi for Arthritis (TCA)-12 lessons with Dr Lam - recommended by CDC (Scroll down to see the free first lesson)

In 1996, Dr Lam with a team of medical and tai chi experts created this safe and easy to learn program. Medical studies confirm Tai Chi for Arthritis relieves pain, reduces falls and improves quality of life, that is why the Arthritis organisations around the world advocate this program and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (www.CDC.gov) recommends it for fall prevention.

What is special about this DVD is that you will feel as though you are participating in Dr Lam’s class. After a brief introduction of what Tai Chi for Arthritis is and how this DVD can benefit you, Dr Lam will teach you with step-by-step instructions, lead you to practice and explain the reason behind every move. At the conclusion of the DVD Dr Lam will demonstrate the set from both front and back views. The unique music was composed with the rhythm and energy especially for this program!

It presents the entire program including warm up and cool down in a user friendly format. Dr Lam incorporates the tai chi principles to enhance your understanding and enjoyment.

    Great Tai Chi Introduction

Posted by Unknown on 20th Dec 2016

My husband and I have just started to learn Tai Chi and had these DVDs recommended to us by our instructor. Dr. Lam is an excellent teacher - he reviews and repeats, demonstrating moves both from the front and the back. I would recommend these DVDs to anyone who is interested in learning Tai Chi. Thank you Dr. Lam for the great learning experience!

    The one that started all

The program is easy to learn, safe, and effective. I ordered ten DVDs this time for friends and family. This is the first Tai Chi for Health program by Dr. Lam. This simple 12 movement Sun Style is great for all beginners, not just for people with arthritis.

By practicing Tai Chi for Arthritis, I no longer have to take daily medication for my arthritis pain OR my fibromyalgia pain. I am able to manage my symptoms using Tai Chi.

    Excellent Tai Chi Video

Posted by Unknown on 28th Nov 2016

The Tai Chi for Arthritis videos are excellent for beginners, but also for more experienced players who may need a review or to tune up their form. Dr. Lam utilizes the step-wise teaching method, which is easy for anyone to understand and follow. The videos are like having a private lesson with Dr. Lam, and are an invaluable tool for anyone learning and practicing the Sun style Tai Chi form.

The Tai Chi for Arthritis DVD -12 Lessons is awesome!

Posted by Andrea L. Lauzon on 10th Nov 2016

I started teaching Tai Chi in the clubhouse of my development this year. I was taught Tai Chi with this DVD with my instructor, Beverly Wise approximately 3 or 4 years ago! It is a great DVD when learning Tai Chi. I purchased a couple for my students so they would have an opportunity to practice at home. Awesome DVD!

Dr. Lam is my hero. He is very patient with beginners like me and he explains every single movement so well. I have a bad back and weak leg and have noticed a vast improvement in a few short days. Thank you Dr. Lam

    great instructional DVD

Posted by Kate McKee on 13th Oct 2016

I have used Dr Lam's DVD both to enhance my own learning of tai chi and to help students in my classes improve. Their number one fear is not being able to remember the details of the movements in the form, or the sequence of movements. This very modestly priced DVD gives them a wonderful way to review specific lessons as well as to practice the entire form following Dr Lam. The video include some the full form from the front, and from the back so students can follow whichever is most useful for them. I don't know of any instructional DVDs that are as well done as this one. I have arthritis and doing tai chi has been a valuable addition to my health and wellness.

Tai Chi for Arthritis is for Everyone

Posted by Jeff Chern on 2nd Oct 2016

I’m now working with the Tai Chi for Arthritis DVD. I don’t have arthritis but I do have age. When we get into our 60’s and 70’s we have to be objective about what style of tai chi we’ll be comfortable doing in our 70’s and 80’s (and hopefully beyond). Tai Chi for Arthritis uses the Sun Style in a modified form because it’s easier on the legs and promotes better balance because of its stepping movements and lower stance. Even in its traditional form, the Sun style has a higher stance than you’ll see in Chen and Yang styles. That being said it doesn’t mean the Sun style isn’t challenging; it’s just different. I studied the 73 movement Sun Style and for me with the several kicks and spins I found myself losing concentration because two movements prior to kicks and spins I’d be thinking about how I’d do. Would I be off balance again? Would my breathing change? Will my posture hold up? Would I stretch my leg up as far as Dr. Paul does? Will I be angry with myself for not being as athletic as I use to be? And so with the modified form I find I’m able to concentrate more on each movement and to get more benefits from being in better balance, experiencing more natural abdominal breathing and without anticipating a difficult movement five minutes before it comes! Because there are fewer movements than in the 73 movement form, Dr. Paul is able to go into each of the movements in more detail. It’s like getting back to the basics. This DVD makes it easier to put into practice more of the health aspects of tai chi that you may not have been able to incorporate in some of the more athletic styles. Because of the high stance in the Sun style those with joint issues and those moving without pain can adjust the amount of knee bend accordingly. I recommend this DVD not just because it’s easier on knee, hips and ankle joints but also because it provides the ability to get the maximum benefit out of your tai chi experience.
