Tai Chi for Arthritis (TCA)-12 lessons with Dr Lam - recommended by CDC (Scroll down to see the free first lesson)

In 1996, Dr Lam with a team of medical and tai chi experts created this safe and easy to learn program. Medical studies confirm Tai Chi for Arthritis relieves pain, reduces falls and improves quality of life, that is why the Arthritis organisations around the world advocate this program and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (www.CDC.gov) recommends it for fall prevention.

What is special about this DVD is that you will feel as though you are participating in Dr Lam’s class. After a brief introduction of what Tai Chi for Arthritis is and how this DVD can benefit you, Dr Lam will teach you with step-by-step instructions, lead you to practice and explain the reason behind every move. At the conclusion of the DVD Dr Lam will demonstrate the set from both front and back views. The unique music was composed with the rhythm and energy especially for this program!

It presents the entire program including warm up and cool down in a user friendly format. Dr Lam incorporates the tai chi principles to enhance your understanding and enjoyment.

  1. this is great for senior citizens 5 Star Review

I teach a lot of seniors with and without arthritis. It helps everyone.

  2. Using the DVD in classes as a prize for completion 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Jul 2017

I use the DVD in my introduction to the 8 week program, specially the introduction and staying safe. The DVD does a great job of introducing the program to the new comers to Tai Chi, and participants find it useful understanding the program before classes start. I use the lesson 4 in my classes where Dr. Lam introduces the Dan Tian breathing method. He does a very good job in explaining the principles behind the deep stabilizer muscles. My participants buy the DVD after I encourage them to watch a sample in You tube to learn how it is set up. Participants that use the DVD in conjunction with the class, do much better in their Tai Chi practice than those that don't. Dr. Lam's messages after each lesson is to the point and powerful, and puts it all together. It is always a good resource as a novice instructor to have to brush on improving one's own Tai Chi practice. I give these DVD's as a door prize who attend 12 of 16 classes to encourage them to continue their practice and to promote future classes offered for them to participate. This DVD is very good tool to use in conjunction to the hand book and wall charts. Thank you Dr. Lam for creating these DVD's. Only, I wish there was one last section that goes through the entire warm up, 6 movements and cool down for those who need the guidance to do a daily continuous practice, a program on DVD that could last as a continuous practice for approx 20-30 minutes.... that is one common feedback I get from class participants who use this DVD in conjunction to my classes.

  3. Updated version greatly improves the previous easy to learn version 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Jun 2017

I had the previous version of the Tai Chi For Arthritis, and really enjoyed Dr Lam's teaching style.
The new version has immensely improved the lessons with improved step by step instruction, and simultaneous front and back views making it much easier to visualize and learn.
Thank you Dr Lam for your great videos on Tai Chi.
I look forward to following Dr Lam and learning more Tai Chi and QiGong lessons from your DVD's

  4. Entire class bought this CD 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Jun 2017

Every person in my senior center class has now purchased this CD. These participants find this CD easy to follow and a helpful follow up to each class. I, myself use this CD to help me prepare for each class. Thank you, Dr. Lam for creating this informative, user friendly CD for all of us.

  5. Easy to understand 4 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd Jun 2017

I am taking a Tai Chi class and bought this DVD to supplement
the class. I appreciate that you can run through the lessons after you learn them so for a practice session you can jump ahead and do all the forms in sequence. I believe it would be better if you had soft music playing in the background. My teacher plays soft oriental instrumental music at our lessons and I think it adds to the experience.

  6. Excellent step by step instructions. Easy to follow. 5 Star Review

I love these lessons for seniors and people with challenges. Easy for me to teach using the step wise method. Great for any age and for beginners.

  7. Love Tai Chi 5 Star Review

I enjoy the dvd. I like to keep repeating each segment for improvement.

  8. There is no hurry in Tai Chi:) 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th May 2017

Wonderful, kind, and calm Traditional Tai Chi teaching combined with Western Medical Research.

  9. Wonderful pace 4 Star Review

Posted by on 25th Apr 2017

The pace of instruction includes repeats of the movements. The pace is excellent for those of us who are learning the movements for the first time. The menu allows for us to repeat easily. The only suggestion I would make for the next DVD is to vary the warm-ups.

  10. Excellent Beginning for Arthritics and Seniors 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Apr 2017

Step by step. Each lesson can be viewed and followed over and over until the movements become ingrained into muscle memory. Each lessons includes the warm up and cool down to make each lesson a complete workout.
