Tai Chi - The 24 Forms

The ancient practice of tai chi is clinically proven to be one of the most effective exercises to improve health, fitness and relaxation. The 24 Forms is the most widely practiced tai chi form. While there are many variations, the form you will learn by working with this DVD is the one of the most authentic.

Following an introduction to tai chi and its benefits, Dr Lam teaches unique qigong exercises and foundational movements which will enhance your energy and make easier learning. He teaches the 24 forms from different angles — using close ups, repetitions and diagramed illustrations while dividing each form into small sections allowing you to follow along with ease. Throughout the lessons, Dr Lam will explain the tai chi principles and how to use them to improve your tai chi.

Dr Paul Lam, an Australian family physician and tai chi expert, is a world leader in the field of tai chi for health. He is a well recognised teacher and has trained over five thousand instructors. Excellent Teaching Style

Posted by James Serenson on 23rd Jul 2019

I have just finished Tai Chi for Arthritis I and II. And purchased the Tai Chi The 24 Forms. It is a different style than the Sun style Tai Chi for Arthritis. But, even though it is a different style. I find that the way it is taught, it is easy to adapt to the new style, and to follow. Dr Lam takes you step by step through the basics first. He shows you the 6 QiGong exercises and 7 Basic Foundation movements. Then Dr Lam using the basic building blocks, takes you through each form step by step with the help of an assistant, allowing you to see the form from two perspectives. Having each step broken down allows you to take your time and learn each movement thoroughly before you move on to the next movement. I am looking forward to learning the rest of the Tai Chi 24 Forms. Thank You Dr Lam for your excellent teaching style.

    Needs more detail perhaps

Posted by Larry Miller on 29th Apr 2019

I have had several Dr. Lam DVDs for a long time and like them a lot. I also use another practitioner's DVDs for balance in my learning. Dr. Lam is wonderful to watch. He truly flows. I wonder if Dr. Lam might give some more detail especially in areas such as Grasp / Stroke the Bird's Tail where the 90º and 180º turns are tricky to say the least. I am very negative about the tiny size of the type on your web site on my Mac screen where it could easily double in size. This last set of 24 I bought went as a gift so I did not see them.

Tai Chi has changed my life for the better. I live where no one else wants to live, but there is internet. Tai Chi has taken away my back and foot pain and I can run up and down stair and have lost weight and much more. I order the Dr. Lam DVD's online and learn the Tai Chi. Dr. Lam is the most thorough teacher of Tai Chi available. I especially enjoy the 24 Form, as it is like a poetic, graceful dance. Dr. Lam teaches this form with patience and his sincere, calm approach is the same as a meditation. With the DVD you can watch and learn over and over again. Not only do you receive Dr. Lam with this DVD, you also have classmates and do not feel all alone while practicing Tai Chi. Thank you Dr. Lam

    Relaxed Learning

I enjoy Dr. Lam’s clear presentation, views from back and front for each movement, concern for safety and avoidance of injury, and step by step development of each form. As a retired teacher myself, I appreciate the lesson structure. Also, the DVD is well filmed and generally easy to use. I look forward to my practice each day.

Dr Paul Lam is a fantastic teacher and the way he shows the moves in front and back views makes it so clear what to do. I only hope I can learn enough to be able to teach Tai Chi myself.

One of my favorites in my library

Posted by Patrick Mullally on 9th Jul 2018

I was eager to get this training video as I have been practicing Tai Chi for Energy I and II, and Tai Chi for Arthritis I and II for some time, and wanted to experience the yang style to help become more well rounded and reap the benefits from three different styles. It has been three months now and I practice the form daily. I have the fundamentals down so I just need refinement and more practice. I wish I could join Dr. Lam when he comes to Toronto to cover the 24 form in depth. The video is very easy to follow and broke down each section well. I particularly liked that each section moved through several movements in sequence which I found more enjoyable to learn than the approach to previous videos I purchased. I can now practice each style in my routine. I plan to get a video all on the chen style next. Thank you Dr. Lam for helping to make Tai Chi training accessible on the east coast of Canada.

    Easy to follow and enjoyable!

For the price, this video is worth it for the preventive medicine. Dr. Lam is a very great teacher/doctor. You can tell he has a big passion for Tai Chi. You will learn about culture too. Tai Chi is so beneficial, and gentle on the body. It is easy for a person at any age. I appreciate the parts where Dr. Lam says "let us do that again" then I can really practice.
