TAI CHI Sun Style 73 Forms

Free first lesson

Combining two of the most powerful internal arts with tai chi, Sun Lu-tang (1861-1932) created an uniquely powerful style of tai chi. This style places great emphasis on Qigong (exercise to cultivate vital life energy), making it especially effective for cultivating internal energy, which in turn greatly enhance healing and relaxation. The 73 Forms is characterized by agile steps with smooth and flowing movements, like water in a river.

Following an introduction to tai chi and of the benefits you will gain by learning the 73 Forms, Dr Lam will teach warm up exercises and the 73 Forms using simple and proven teaching methods. He will teach the forms from different angles — using close ups, repetitions and diagrammed illustrations while dividing each form into small sections allowing you to follow along with ease. Throughout the lessons, Dr Lam will explain the tai chi principles and the unique Sun style tai chi energy with throughout the DVD.

Features:
Step-by-step comprehensive instructions
• Close-ups, repetitions, different angles and foot prints to facilitate learning
• Specially composed theme music
• Demonstrations (front and back on views) of the entire set by Dr Lam

After practicing Traditional Tai Chi for a year, learning 73 form was initially confusing, but after purchasing this CD I clearly understand the difference in the forms. I am now a big fan of 73 form and I am looking forward to learning other forms with Dr Lam.

After finishing Tai Chi for Arthritis, I was really impressed with Dr. Lams teaching style. It gave me a chance to learn and grow more. I love Qigong so I always wanted to learn Sun style 73 forms and Dr. Lams DVDs just gave me a chance to learn and grow. I really love your explanation of the forms also. Thanks for making these teachings available to everyone.

I have purchased the Sun Style 73 forms for further advancement in my learning Tai Chi.
I have recently retired and am starting with Tai Chi for Arthritis 1 and 2. Then I will move on to the 73 forms.
Dr Lam presents the material in a way it is easy to learn through visualization, explanation and repetition.
Thank You Doctor Lam Looking forward to learning more about Tai Chi.

  6. Sun Style 73 Form (new version) 4 Star Review

Posted by on 25th Apr 2017

When I viewed the DVD, it wasn't the one I expected. However, this DVD is a new version for seniors. The DVD is done well because it makes the form easier to practice especially where the turns and kicks are concerned. The best walking "Qigong form" ever for Seniors to practice.

  7. Teaching Old Dogs New Tricks 5 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Jan 2017

I really had little idea of what I was getting into when the local Senior Center Director asked me last spring if I wanted to fill out an application to become a Tai Chi instructor. I have done all types of exercise programs through my life. I probably started as an adult with "Sweating to the Oldies" and Jane Fonda. I have danced, lifted weights, swam, ran, what ever was popular and within my physical ability. I had one experience with Tai Chi from a local adult education center but it was more of a just follow the leader and no real in depth instructions as to the study and reasons behind Tai Chi. At 69 I was struggling to find something within my ability and that I would enjoy and also improve my health status.
My first tape and class was a struggle at first. The thought after my 2 day program was I would never be able to learn the program, no less instruct or teach anyone else. I persevered and began to learn the first forms from Tai Chi for Arthritis. As I began to regularly work with the DVD I felt a little more confident as I started a class at the senior center, with a number of notes and hints to help me along, I personally am finishing the Tai Chi 2 for Arthritis. The class is moving slowly but reinforcing my learning. I am so happy to pass on what I have learned. Because I am an RN I feel that in a way I am continuing my profession by teaching and improving clients health and welfare. I am greatly looking forward to begin the Tai Chi Sun Style 73 Forms and maybe one day getting good enough to go to a conference and actually meet Dr, Lam.

  8. Excellent Tool for Learning T'ai Chi 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Jan 2017

My husband and I are very pleased with the step-wise approach that Dr. Lam provides in this training DVD. We especially like the repetitive sequences he goes through to teach a move. I must temper that with the fact that we have been through classes with live teachers, but no longer live in a community that can provides it. Nonetheless, this program is invaluable for us to continue our growth in T'ai Chi. We like the explanations he gives about the overall impacts of TC, as well as the explanations of how to do each step, especially integrating the breathing, how to breath, when and where to balance, etc. While we have had live teaching, we like the ability to repeat the sequence of DVD many, many times to cement our technique. We view the full demonstration frequently to see how the moves glide together and reveiw the big picture.

  9. Anticipation! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Jan 2017

I'm currently working through the full set of Tai Chi for Arthritis DVDs, and I purchased this one in the recent December sale. It is my goal once I've internalized all of the movements from the Arthritis series. I find Dr Lam's style very helpful and easy to follow - which is most unusual for DVD instruction videos. I do have access to a local instructor certified to teach Sun style, but it is very helpful to have these DVDs at home as a reference between classes.
