Tai Chi for Diabetes DVD: Designed to help prevent and manage diabetes
Approx total duration: 5hrs

An Empowering Program

In 1998, Dr Lam with a team of medical and tai chi experts created this program to prevent and improve the control of diabetes. His team incorporated medical research and traditional Chinese medicine to make tai chi safer, more effective and accessible. This program has helped many people with and without diabetes
gain better health, improve balance, immunity, relaxation and quality of life.

This new edition has been updated to include current information, a more user-friendly teaching format, and modified movements to enhance the program. These changes are drawn from Dr Lam’s over 40 years of teaching and research experience.

Introduction

This program, specially designed by medical and tai chi experts, focuses on the health benefits for people with diabetes. Suitable for people with no prior knowledge of tai chi, it is safe and easy-to-learn.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, enhancing life energy (Qi) in the appropriate acupuncture meridians (energy channels) will improve diabetes. This program is also designed to enhance these meridians.

Including an introduction of tai chi and diabetes, warm up and cooling down exercises, it contains Qigong for Diabetes, 11 basic movements and 8 advanced movements. Viewers can learn different parts at their own pace using the step-by-step instructions.

The set is based on both Yang and Sun style, selected to enhance Qi and provide progressive exercises safe for people with diabetes.

Features

It has been designed to prevent and improve control of diabetes by gently increasing physical activities, cellular uptake of glucose and relaxation. It enhances Qi (life energy) which, according to traditional Chinese medicine, will help control diabetes. For people who don't have diabetes, practicing it could prevent diabetes, or just improve fitness and health.

This program is supported by Diabetes Australia.

Another great Video from Dr Lam

Posted by Lindsay Hart on 18th Jan 2023

Purchased this for my husband, who has diabetes, and he is working on it. I have several other DVDs from Dr Lam and they are all wonderful: so clear and easy to follow. I know Dr Lam is offering on-line courses also , but a DVD for me is much easier to manipulate - I can stop it and go back to the same place so easily. The TV/VCR are in the living room which gives me more space than the place my computer is located. Please keep offering the DVDs for old folk like me!
