Introduction

Tai Chi integrates mind, body and spirit to achieve inner tranquillity and power. Dr Paul Lam's Tai Chi movements flow smoothly and powerfully as they are driven by an internal energy. Students who practise along side him can almost feel the energy magically transfer to them. Composer Jenny Ly works with Dr Lam to capture this energy in music which can be used to enhance practise and performance. These music can be used by anyone for tranquillity and inspiration.

These four pieces correlate to four major Tai Chi styles. Silk reeling is the inner power behind Chen style, Yang is meditative, Wu is gentle and Sun contains powerful Qigong.

Music in Poetry
By composer Jenny Ly

1. Meditation in Motion - After the Monsoon (10:33)
The last drop falls
They slowly lifted their heads
And looked up at the sky
The sun sending their perfumes
Wandering into wet rice fields
As the cicadas crept form hiding
And sang their symphony

2. Silk Reeling -Maiden's Dance (7:51)
Under the moon,
The maiden dance
Slowly through the bamboos
To the light of the moon.

3. River of Qi - Eternal Waters (8:43)
The waters soothed her soul
And she began to heal
The crystal waves enfold
Their arms around her tenderly

4. Gentle Wind - Under the Willow Tree (9:55)
Under the willow tree,
She sat with silent tears
Watching the waters flow
Waiting for her love
To return.
The small ripples danced around her
Whispering sweet promises
That she would find
Once beneath the waters.

Comment from Dahlis Roy, USA
"I think your music for Tai Chi CD is supurb. I especially like #2 but #3 is also becoming a favorite. Composer, Jenny, captures your flowing motions in a beautiful impressionistic way. I think you mentioned #3 is your favorite, "River of Qi."

My students and I like your brochure included in the CD with Jenny's poetry, Qigong execise with pictures, and "What is Tai Chi?" "What is Qigong?" comments for students and teachers. This makes your CD unique."

    A short CD

The music is good for doing tai chi, but the CD is only about 36 minutes long, short for a CD.
