Chen style features resilient and powerful internal force that is beautiful and practical, with many fascinating techniques. Chen is the original style featuring fastness complimenting softness, slowness intermixed with fastness, explosive force delivering movements, and complex expression of the spiral force. Dr Lam has a deep fascination for the Chen style and has learned this set directly from its creator, Professor Kan. He has translated her book Chen Style 36 Forms Taijiquan to English and has practised the set for over forty years.
 
The 36 Forms is the world's most popular Chen Style set. It is a condensed version of the original 83 Forms being taught in the early part of this century by the great Chen Fake. The set is well-balanced, containing all the essential characteristics and principles of the original Forms.

    I love it. It's a new challenge after doing sun style. It's a great workout with easy to follow instructions. This video takes your practice to a new level.

    Dr. Lam does a wonderful job explaining each of the forms. I really find helpful watching his demonstration with another person simultaneously demonstrating the form 180 degrees opposite. Perfect number of repetitions for each form before moving on. Thank you Dr. Lam!

    It is Possible to Learn Chen Tai Chi!

    This is really a great DVD. As Paul Lam says, learning Chen Style Tai Chi can be like climbing a steep mountain. Like many others, I became fascinated with Chen after learning some of the movements with Dr. Lam's "Tai Chi for Energy" DVD's. Learning an entire Chen form, however, just seemed impossible. With this video, I feel that I will finally be able to learn the Chen 36 Form. The video takes it step by step, both with front and back views. Each movement is broken down and repeated several times. The basic principles of the form, such as spiral force, are clearly explained. Dr. Lam's love of the form really is obvious. It is a steep climb, but I am really having fun with this.

    I have always wanted to learn this form! I now feel I am ready. There is no way better to learn a form than with Dr. Lam. The Chen form burns calories and helps to keep you healthy. All Tai Chi helps to keep you healthy! Thank you Dr. Lam!

    Fun and good to follow after learning Energy 2. I would like a side / angle view to practice along with Dr Lam. He’s a great teacher!

    I am really enjoying the DVD and learning the form. Dr. Lam is an excellent instructor! My only request would be that he review each new step from the beginning once a new lesson has been completed. It's often difficult to put it all together when each step is separate.
